EXPIRATION
A photograph taken with Polaroid film that expired over two years ago holds a special meaning. Analog film and printed photos undergo changes over time. Colors fade and gradually disappear, leaving traces of the passing years. This mirrors the natural order of living things that change and eventually fade away. In contrast, digital photos remain unchanged over time. Digital preserves the moment eternally. By scanning the Polaroid photo, we can eternally preserve that moment, but this also means halting the flow of time. What does not change ultimately becomes akin to death. Analog and digital have these contrasting characteristics. Analog changes with the passage of time, while digital fixes the moment in place. This contrast prompts us to deeply contemplate life and death, change and stillness. Through the changing nature of analog and the unchanging nature of digital, we can reflect on what it truly means to be 'alive' and the significance of that.
